The creative minds at Dubreq have created a new version of something old. The Stylophone Theremin is now available for pre-order from the Stylophone website.
What excites me most about the instrument is that there are two ways to control the pitch. The telescopic antenna allows for space control like a traditional theremin. There is also a slider with pitch markings reminiscent of the Electro-Theremin or the Tannerin. It was this type of controller actually used in the Beach Boys tune "Good Vibrations," although it is often mistaken for a theremin.
The promotional photos show that the volume envelope can be controlled by a push-button. It reminds me a bit of the expression control keys of an Ondes Martenot.
I can't wait to get my hands off of one of these cool new instruments. List price is expected to be about $110 USD. Details are at https://stylophone.com/theremin-pre-order/
